About our Executive Director:

Chris has been with the land trust in a variety of roles since 1997. He first worked as a contractor writing baseline reports and conducting easement monitoring, then in 2000 he was brought on as the organizations first full-time Director of Stewardship. From 2000 to 2006, Chris was the senior project staff person for the organization and in September 2006, he became CCALT’s second Executive Director.

Chris has been involved in more than 200 conservation easement transactions. Chris served on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Coalition of Land Trusts from 1998 to 2005 and was the President of that Board from 2001 to 2003.

Chris spent his childhood on ranches in Wyoming, Nebraska and Montana alongside his father who was a field geologist.  He has a undergraduate degree in Geology from Colby College and a Masters in Natural Resource Policy and Economics from Duke University.  Outside of his passion for ranching and western landscapes, Chris is an avid fisherman and student of western history.  He spends as much time as possible with his wife Kyle and their two young daughters.
